Who we are

L’Atelier Joinery is the brain child of our founder Rob Seeley and is now run and managed by him and his siblings. After spending many years working out of a joinery workshop in railway arches in Bermondsey, we swapped concrete for greenery and the noise of trains and traffic for the calls of farmyard animals, taking a workshop near Sevenoaks, in the North Downs village where we grew up. When it comes to wood work, we’re serious about what we do but we want us and our team to have fun doing it, in a safe and supported environment.

Rob, L'Atelier Joinery's founder and his family

Rob Seeley - Founder

Rob has over twenty years’ experience as a furniture maker and joiner. Undertaking a carpentry apprenticeship straight after leaving school, Rob learnt from a team of joiners and cabinet makers with years and years of experience in the industry. His high quality of work, fast output and easy-going nature meant he quickly worked his way up to become a director at Oval Workshop. There he designed, built and managed numerous projects across a variety of sectors. He is extremely knowledgeable in design, the use of a variety of materials, construction and delivering furniture to exacting standards.

Tom, Director at L'Atelier Joinery

Tom Seeley - Director

Tom initially came from a surveying background which utilised his meticulous attention to detail, ability to interpret data and logical thinking, these skills (and the chance to make stuff!) made transferring into joinery and cabinet making a natural next step in his career. Tom and Rob are not only brothers but have already spent 8 years working together as colleagues at Oval Workshop. At Oval, Tom applied his eye for detail, knowledge of materials and ability to problem solve to each and every project, exacting the same high standard and finish whether it be a sole freestanding sideboard or a full shop fit out for a high-end fashion designer.

Rachel, Director at L'Atelier Joinery

Rachel Seeley - Director

After finishing college Rachel sought out the bright lights of London and never looked back (till now!). She’s spent almost 20 years working within the London recruitment market. Employed by only 2 brands during this time, she started as a receptionist and quickly worked her way up to become a manager with her first company and then a director at her second. Her experience lends itself well to the varied role here at L’Atelier Joinery and she currently looks after the day-to-day management of sales, marketing, finance, HR and administration and is returning to study so she can get more involved in the creative!
